Learning

How would you like to see yourself with the ability to stay completely focused and present? What would it be like to go to your parent teacher conference and come home with the best report card your child has ever had? How great would it feel to know your child is intelligently gifted rather than maintain the belief that there is something wrong with them?

There is a current trend happening in our modern education system that is branding kids who seem to be inattentive or who struggle with learning as “learning disabled.” The ironic thing is that it’s not even necessary for the child to have been given an official diagnosis.  As a Certified Learning Specialist I can help you or your child with struggles related to reading, comprehension, writing, memorization, spelling, relaxation, math as well as basic social skills.

Why Do So Many Kids Seem To Be Challenged Today?

I remember when I was a kid I seemed to get a lot more one-on-one attention from my teacher when the classes were smaller. I also remember having plenty of time after school to play with friends, ride my bike outside or add to my sticker collection. Whereas kids these days are so overwhelmed with an intense amount of school work, homework and get lost amongst the many in overcrowded classrooms.

Also consider the amount of information kids are being bombarded with by television, advertisements, video games, electronic gadgets, and the Internet. To further add to the equation are kids learning how to emotionally understand parental separation/divorce, and then finally learning struggles and challenges. It’s no surprise that some kids have arrived with the attitude of “I hate homework”, “school is hard”, and “there’s something wrong with me because I’m different.”

Different and Unique

Although some of these kids have been told they have learning “disabilities”, such as ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, or Asperger’s, they are actually quite intelligent and unique.  They are usually above average, have good problem solving skills and think in a more abstract creative way.

Without the unique individuals who have “suffered” with similar challenges, we wouldn’t have Disneyland, the light bulb, the telephone, paintings worth millions, or athletes who will be forever remembered in sports history.  Because of their visionary and artistic contribution to our world, we wouldn’t want to fix or correct them and instead only enhance and encourage their capabilities.

How Can a Learning Specialist Help?

By tapping into their natural learning styles and teaching them strategies that work, I can help them see their own strengths and gifts that unfortunately teachers in public schools today either don’t have time to do or don’t know how.  With a more focused and individual approach, your child will get more homework done, in a faster period of time with more enthusiasm. After taking the time to complete a Learning Style Profile Form, I’d be happy to schedule a complimentary consultation with you to create a customized program.  These techniques are also helpful for those of any age whether you’re a high school or college student or a business professional.

The core learning skills I coach on that are the focus of a customized learning program are:

With the intention to serve others in seeing learning as fun again, we can create a program for you or your child on any budget.  I also take payments via PayPal/credit card and if needed, we can create a payment plan. With the feeling of successful learning comes confidence and that has an impact on every child, teen and adult.
